Its unique module, which helps missiles cluster (read: hit the same mech body part), has an effect that’s obvious both visually and in practice. While “fire support heavy Mech” almost feels like an oxymoron, 40 LRM hits can cover many a sin. I would single out the Archer as one of the Very Useful Mechs. The Flea: fast, light, dead! Not all Mechs are built the same They might have new modules that give them fancy Mech powers, but nothing can change the fact that you’re bringing a light Mech against opponents who don’t care about their own survival and can strip your armor and health down in a single salvo. Although it’s painfully obvious that if you’re already hitting three-to-four-skull missions, the light and medium Mechs are useless trash. The new robots run the gamut from the diminutive Flea and the Rifleman to Harebrained Scheme’s own Bull Shark. (The Bull Shark comes via the Flashpoint campaign, so hope your luck holds.) Otherwise, you’ll just leave some of the Mechs on the table – even if you can find them in the stores or loot them in missions. However, starting a new campaign is probably the best way to experience the content of BattleTech: Heavy Metal DLC. If the heavies are in that roster, this might send your campaign sideways immediately. You can get a random one (and some choice bits of equipment) by accepting a prompt at the start of a new campaign career. Trusty Davion’s lightly pre-loved Mechsįirst of all, you have a healthy crop of eight new Mechs entering the game. Therefore, I use HeavyMetal for all of my design and printing needs. The Rifleman is demonstrating its famed durability. HeavyMetal does everything I need for all of my games except for the BattleForce Cards which I make myself with an excel sheet that comes out with more accurate numbers than SSW. HeavyMetal uses less memory and works faster. SSW, or rather the Java that it requires to run, is a memory hog that interferes with my computer. It's got nearly as many bugs as Java.īasically, I have a rule that if a program does not work WITH my computer and the way I run it, I will not use it unless it is the only program that does what I need to do, and in that case I will keep that program on only as long as I NEED it and then it turns back off. For the same reason I stay away from programs that require junk. I don't want to turn off half of my stuff just to have the "honor" of running Java so I stay away from programs that require it. If I want to turn on something that uses java, I have to turn off the design software, excel, PSP, most if not all of the pdfs, and stuff like that because of how much memory java hogs to boot up. I multitask a lot and have learned the wonder of keyboard shortcuts over the years. More like I've got three to four or more PDFs open for reference in foxit reader, adobe, or adobe editor with an excel document or two open, sometimes opening Strategic ops or other game manuals to check out rules, while having HMP or whatever other design software I have open, while performing pixel-level graphics editing in Paint Shop Pro, along with Pidgin and firefox and a few other things all at the same time.
